About Surgical Services

Dr. Mandelberger has extensive training in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, including robotic, laparoscopic, and hysteroscopic modalities. â€‹

Were you offered open abdominal surgery for a hysterectomy or a myomectomy (fibroid removal)? Often, you may be a candidate for robotic surgery and not even realize, if the surgeon you are working with is not experienced in these techniques. It is always wise to seek a second opinion in this case. OB/GYN residency provides limited surgical training, and it can be difficult to excel in surgery without the additional training a fellowship provides. In a minimally invasive gynecologic fellowship, fellows gain experience with hundreds of operations on complicated cases. Dr. Mandelberger completed her fellowship in 2017 at Northwell Health, and has performed hundreds of surgeries since then at her prior employment.

Now, at Balanced Medical, she has the unique opportunity to provide an extra level of surgical services that goes beyond excellence in the OR. With the ample time to prepare you for surgery and seamless communication, Dr. Mandelberger can make you feel completely at ease during your surgical journey, as if you were being taken care of by a family member.

What can I expect?

At the initial surgical consultation, you will get 1 hour with Dr. Mandelberger where she will take a thorough history, review the problem and any relevant records and imaging, and provide a comprehensive list of appropriate management options with risks and benefits. It is not uncommon for her to recommend avoiding surgery!

If you mutually decide that surgery is the best route, our care team will ensure you are optimized for surgery and plan any necessary preoperative workup. You will have plenty of time to get all your questions answered prior to surgery, and you will have a clear picture of what your post-operative recovery will look like. On the day of your procedure, Dr. Mandelberger and the operative team will make you feel at ease. During the post-operative period, you will have Dr. Mandelberger's direct texting and phone line for any emergencies or after hour concerns.

We will work with your insurance to get authorization for the procedure to cover any hospital fees. Dr. Mandelberger takes a flat fee that covers the surgery, postoperative recovery period, and any (unlikely) hypothetical complications that may arise within the specified time frame. That way there will be no unexpected costs or mounting bills if you should need additional care.

Throughout your surgical journey, you can expect easy communication with Dr. Mandelberger and her team for any needs that may arise. We are in this together!
